If you're good, you might finish around 20 minutes.. Cute platform with very nice "hand-drawn" style. It's short but enough to fully enjoy it. Also, it's not as easy as you might think since like old style platformers, you have only 1 life so when you die, you have to restart the level again. Rinse and repeat until you learn the level by heart. And the game is amazingly for free! :-DPS: kuudos also from some anime references (like Dr.Slump and Saint Seiya!. Drop alive is a cute fun game.... This game is a little bit of a puzzle game mixed with the platform game it obviously is. In this game you are a water drop, that has to get forward. You get smaller all the time, so you must find a spot where you can grow again. In some levels you turn into steam so you can fly, and then back to water etc. As much as I like the idea of this game, I really just didn't enjoy playing it. The physics and overall gameplay feel way too sloppy for me. It also reminds me of a game I played online for free back in like 2009, which really doesn't exactly compliment this game as the online game from almost 10 years ago was made better.I'm going to give it a 6/10. Would be 4 for the game but the extra 2 are for the creativity.. I weakly recommend this free game.It has an interesting mechanic: You play as a water droplet, which can turn into steam when heated, or an ice-ball when frozen. However, there are several flaws in the execution that can make this game more frustrating than fun. Here's a quick, probably incomplete, list off the top of my head: There's a firetrap that seems to use a physics engine to determine its hitbox. This is in contrast to a platformer, like Super Mario World, there firetraps have a scripted and deterministic hitbox, so you can "learn" where it's safe to stand and where it isn't. In Drop Alive, because the fire hitbox is a physics simulation, places that were safe to stand a second ago might not be safe if the fire spreads in a different direction.[/li] There are traps that falling from the ceilings whose timing seem random. That is, rather than having a fixed timing that you can learn and try to plan to avoid, you just have to try to run/jump across and hope you get lucky. Given how easily you can die through no fault of your own, the levels are too long and have no checkpoints. It's frustrating to die to random bad luck, and have to play the whole level all over again. Each map has 3 coins to find for 100% completion, thus encouraging you to replay levels again to find all the coins you may have missed. However, the level select menu is awkward and slow to use. They should have either made it scroll much faster so you can quickly get to the level you want, or at least made it "remember" where you were, so that after you complete a level, you can just scroll to the next one on the list, instead of starting from the end of the list and having to scroll all the way to the next level you intended to play.. Its fun to pass the time on a old Windows 7 PC.. Pros:+ A free platformer with truly challenging gameplay that feels fresh. + Includes variety of unique levels (from everyday kitchen to dark underground sewers) that get increasingly difficult.+ Beautiful hand-drawn animation and visuals. Each level comes with its own unique visual theme, with amazing effects like lighting and particle.+ Simple yet adorable playable character. You play as a water drop navigating variety of obstacles to reach each level's end zone. + Thanks to science, you are granted with the ability to change from one state to another (depending on your environment). For example, in order to reach high places, you can touch a steaming hot pipe to convert yourself from liquid to a puff of steam that float upwards. But your journey will end soon if you go on forever without any replenishment.+ If the previous point is somewhat complicated, just remember you have a very cute personality.+ Inspiring soundtrack reminded me of World of Goo.+ It can be one of those games that feel rewarding (if you manage to overcome its difficulty and shortcomings). Or it can be a very rage-inducing experience.Cons:- Framerates tend to drop during certain levels. For a game like Drop Alive, this is quite odd. I suspect lack of optimization in different places.- Some levels exhibit questionable level design. These often lead to frustrating moments that require you to try the same obstacles over and over again.- Sluggish controls. Combined with unpredictability in framerates, some questionable level design and checkpoint system, you will be getting a game that is both challenging and ridiculous.- Settings menu does not work. For example, I could not change the resolution. There's not a lot to customize in the settings menu either.- Other issues like bugs. A known example that I encountered is associated to that one particular achievement which was mentioned before by other users at the Community Hub page.Summary:Do not underestimate the 'free-to-play' label on this game and expect to complete it easy and fast. Drop Alive is unexpectedly a hardcore platformer. Personally it's one of the most difficult games I have played. Unfortunately, I'm not really happy with some of the factors that made this game 'difficult'. But at the end it felt immensely satisfying after I managed to complete it. Drop Alive is known for its charming vibes with unique visuals, a cute little character and great soundtrack, but with some frustrating moments along the way. Give it a try !. Better then most F2P games. If I had to describe Drop Alive in 3 words, I would say: short, cute, and fun. This game is an interesting puzzle platformer revolving around a small water droplet's dreams of freedom. During your quest, your drop will take advantage of the 3 states of matter (gas, solid, and liquid) to get through different areas. For example, the cloud form lets your drop fly.I was really impressed by the quality of this title for a free game. The graphics are in a cute, hand-drawn style, almost as if they come straight from the pages of a picture book. The music is well composed, and gives off the feeling of adventure. There are even cute skins you can purchase for your drop using tokens!Overall, I would recommend this game. It has an unmistakable charm, and if it were longer, it could easily pass as a paid title.. Drop alive is a cute fun game...
